Night Country starts production in Iceland

HBO real detective The series is set to continue the next anthology story in its gritty crime drama. The first season was set in a secluded Louisiana town. The second season featured many parts of the Los Angeles area. The third season would be set in the Ozarks. And now the new season of the dark series will be set in Alaska.

HBO’s official plot synopsis reads,

“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who run the IDF Arctic Research Station disappear without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) must confront their past and the dark truths that lie beneath the arctic ice.

Although set in Alaska, production on the HBO show has officially begun in Iceland. They had recently announced their cast, including two-time Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster. She will be joined by boxer Kali Reis, John Hawkes, Christopher Eccleston, Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, Isabella Star Lablanc and Joel D. Montgrand.

Former showrunner Nic Pizzolatto had an idea for the 2019 season that he ended up scrapping. He has since signed a first deal with FX in 2020 and stepped down to serve as an executive producer only for this season.
